How I Turned a Health Scare into My Biggest Win of 2025

Have you ever taken a moment to truly reflect on your year, not just the highlights, but the small wins and all the times you showed up for yourself?

This week, I did just that.

I started with pen and paper, then moved to an Excel spreadsheet as my list of moments and milestones kept growing.

Reflecting on the goals I set for 2025, I realized I didn’t hit every single one 100%, but the progress I made was real, and it’s worth celebrating.

One goal that stood out was my ongoing commitment to my health, continuing to improve and building on my existing foundation. I have always been committed to my health, but there was one aspect that needed extra attention.

As a wellness and menopause coach with over 20 years of experience, I underestimated the attention that this one particular area of my health needed.

And you could be doing the same…

As many of you know, yoga is my jam and really a core part of my life.

But I also engage in other movements, like running (love it, but reduced due to injuries), Zumba, Pilates, and strength training.

I thought I had all the bases covered until my GYN called me with my bone density results and told me I had osteoporosis in some areas of my bone. I was in complete shock and disbelief, and asked her if she was looking at the right file.

I knew I had work to do.

With the addition of some bone supplements she recommended, I decided to make strength training a priority in 2025.

As I moved past my mid-50s, I knew it was time to focus on strength training, especially with osteopenia showing up in some of my bones.

As much as I know about health, wellness, and fitness, I did not know where to start.

So, I made a big decision: I hired a personal trainer.

We worked together consistently from January through October, and the difference I feel in my body is incredible.

The muscle definition is just a bonus; the real win is knowing I’m investing in my long-term health.

When I do my next bone scan, I will know the impact my training and other changes. Stay tuned…

Most people spend freely on things like cars, clothes, and even concert tickets, but when it comes to their health, they sometimes hesitate to invest.

I get it, personal training isn’t cheap, but to me, it was a non-negotiable investment. No tax write-off, just a promise to myself that my well-being comes first.

My trainer, Carlos, was the best!

As a result of working with Carlos, my body got so much stronger, especially in weak areas, like my lower back.

He taught me how to use the gym machines correctly and the weights that are right for my size to prevent injuries.

If you want to connect with Carlos, reply to this email, and I will hook you up. 😊
